deepchild dares to fire out almost a dozen of new tracks after his >backroom< debut on trapez. the title track >fire< pulls all strings, this is what we have been waiting for, deep techno with enough passion to drown every dance floor in sweat and tears. >fire< combines the miami bass with the new york house with the new school of techno in a vibrant mix.

the one-two kick drum beat that starts “in the dark of the night” functions as a bit of a tease. instead of merely establishing the languid pace of the track, it has the power of suggestion, and its stark nakedness raises the question of what will happen after the music fully launches. a few seconds later, a punch-drunk, flanging keyboard is the first clue that the listener is in for an off-kilter ride, the sauntering bassline that next appears adds a springy, funk bounce. but it’s the tripped-out, multi-tracked vocals of fernando miranda rios, aka michoacan, the producer behind this slow reveal, that give the song its peculiar, space-yvibe. it’s like david byrne with funk aspirations and a vaguely cosmic feel. the b-side remix, courtesy of italy’s clap rules, feels like more of a re-build. the song has been taken apart and put back together with brand new parts. instead of more relaxed, dazed funk at the core, it’s a glittery, disco-ball splattered track with glossy keys all around.

>esta si esta no< by the glimmers featuring baby g. is a cover version of one of the biggest euro rave anthems from the early nineties originally written and performed by spanish superstar dj chimo bayo. beautiful baby g (from lsb fame on eskimo recordings) took the vocals for her part whilst half of the glimmers house band disko drunkards are playing the instruments on this quite original adaptation. this release features three remixes. glimmers favorite german fella daniel haaksman (from berlin based man recordings) goes favella funk style with a very catchy sax hook and the amazing in flagranti is doing with the track what they can do best, making it very synthy disco sexy.. they deliver a vocal and an instrumental version.

blimey! we thought we had fallen into a wormhole and woken up in 92! 2020 soundsystems enduring lp favourite and one of the live shows highlights gets put through the downtown ny meat-grinder by tbd. brought on board as prospective remixers after last years immense all ears distributed >what is this< the tbd duo have taken this one on a three-day bender across the big apple! sleep deprived and pounded into submission by unrelenting kick drums and dustbin lid percussion, not to mention enough growling synth action to satisfy the hungriest of addled brains, the two mixes barely made it back home to leeds alive! you have been warned!

following up his s soup plate with two slick dubby techno trax and a solid remix from eamonn doyle, captain baiyon is ready to kick your ass again, banzai! evening glow of a river brings a dreamlike quality to any clubspace. pushing the shuffle under a spectral vocal to conjour the mood of a haunted skyscraper. its a masterful synthesis of what could be called a traditional techno sound (the one d1 made a tradition of) and an undefinable lucid ambience. lupe carries on the mood onward in a deceptively gentle style, this one gets loud! a solid dub groove that keeps the pace until the intermittent breakdowns where it rips the sky open with a terrorising bubble synth growing like a raging blob monster to the size of a small moon. somehow eamonn doyle manages to tame the beast in his remix. it purrs along beautifully under his signature tamborines and jump strings and ends proceedings in a lush deep style. unmissable for anyone who enjoyed winter sun or come down on the music.

we have never done a project like this before where the artists choose all the remixers themselves. but for the crazy italoboyz album >bla bla bla< we found ourselves not really knowing what to do. so instead of forcing our own ideas for remixers we went back to the source and let the artists run wild on the a&r. marco and fede commissioned all the remixers themselves. the producers they chose are a very diverse bunch and the vinyl 12inch takes a sampling of the best material from two very big underground names. on the a-side das kraus duo turn it a super jackin yet also very haunting rendition of >oh mio dio.< it sounds like pitched up chicago house meets demon days. on the b-side old school master dandy jack turns in one of the oddest records ever on mothership with some unusual sound design, voices and semi-dischordant note runs. super weird for the super weird! whatever you think of this odd lot no one can deny these remixes definitely carry the indistinguishable mark of that ever so quirky duo, the italoboyz

alex under is the man behind dolly la parton and what he delivers is just pure dancemania: original, raw and groovy, both tracks included in this release are pure slices of music madness. its just a thing blends jazz improvisation with techno euphoria while cornbread, fish & collard greens may be the deepest, blackest and funkiest dance track of 2010, a ritual of rhythm invention and futuristic manipulation

for the second time, kadebostan opens up an oriental sound bazaar on fenou with the souk e.p. and feeds us with musical delicacies. on side a he charms us with a virtuous sounding clarinet like a snake charmer decoys the hissing reptiles from a basket. our hips are swaying softly and smoothly under this hypnosis to a beating rhythm and repeating bass lines. on the flip he reveals the veil and involves us in a world of foreign sounding magical music. it is a miraculous mixture of charming vocals, gently, but firmly beginning rhythm and oriental guitar and piano scales. what remains is a moment of magic.

here comes the funky assault from florentine trio the clover! this powerful and warm 4tracker ep shows an amazing variety of styles into a pure house music affair. each track is so unique, its amazing how great the repertory of these young guys is! we know them already for their works on ethique and some appearances on our label.. however this is their first magic ep on bosconi!

finally, the long wait is over! we are proud to present the first solo effort by leviste and its been worth the wait. three ultra varied tracks starting with the driving drums and bassline of >senioritis<. >better get used to it< shows off levistes melodic abilities with a beautiful melancholic epic. these first two songs really show what an important role leviste has played in the duos productions over the years. >change the station< rounds things out with a bit of modular synth experimentation over a jacking rhythm track.

theres something brewing down at dumb-unit and this time its in the venomous form of a cobra sun. legend has it that the cobra sun is a sun so fierce that a man can only face it at the crack of dawn. only at this point can one survive its monstrous wrath. whatever the truth may be, what is certain is that a new legend arises with pheroxs moving interpretation. a massive journey full of dynamism and extremes the cobra sun is yet another notch to be carved into dumb-units sonic bed post.

blind minded lives in london and is famous for his live appearances and has his third release with trapez ltd with >mr propre<. his first two release on trapez ltd was supported heavily and where charted by the italoboyz so weare looking forward to his follow up. >mr. propre< is the return of what used to be of the detroit sound blended with modern spontaneous changes in mood and crossovers which will put a smile on your face. >mr. propre< is the most technoid of all three tracks, whereas >jazz 2 me< is a bassline monster, with vocalquotes about jazz music stating it as >a state of life<, >something that you live!<. altogether a sexy cool groover! >the melting freak< is the most deep of all three tracks. here you can hear blind minded playing his analogue instruments (also a real 808 drum machine) being funky and cool rather than going for cheap thrills.

resident nick höppner returns with his third release for ostgut ton. after last years >makeover< come three new detailed excursions, plus a remix by lee jones. almost entirely constructed from field recordings taken within the walls of berghain, >brush me down< is a raw and textural jam, uncontrived and jostling with energy. jittery, shuffling and shaking, höppners love for funky, off-kilter percussion shines through as he pieces together a mysterious audio puzzle of found atmospherics, club nights and concerts otherwise committed only to memory yet now preserved and recycled. it also is a hint at what is to be expected from ostgut tons 5 years anniversary compilation this autumn.

kontra-musik continues its 10inch remix series. this turn is for ben klock and oni ayhun to get busy and rework tracks from the jason fines future thought album. ben klock now finalizes (may we call it the kontra-musik berghain sessions after shed and dettmann remixes) with a stomping, chicago-esque modern dancefloor cut. by adding vocals but keeping jasons original chords, there is some serious anthem warning to this one. on flip there is some magic! oni ayhun leaves us with a stunning and experimental tech electro kraut excursion. think yello magic orchestra jamming on beats provided by morris day and the time... wooow what a track!! another great piece in the carefully builded kontra musik catalogue! check

this man cant currently be stopped. following his releases through the 2nd season 2009 (>marvin” on compost, >smaul 06< & >smaul 07<) in january 2010 acid paulis >riverboat tour< came out. now, it seems he opens this years summer season with these two psychedelic thrilling tracks. even though he had been touring a lot with the notwist last year, acid pauli was pretty often an invited, musically refreshing guest in berlins minimal techno (what ever) scene. den mahlstrom rauf leaves no doubts about. great build up he does by keeping tension over five minutes to unlash finally the madness charge with a levitating reverse-ducking-compressed melody. den mahlstrom runter (a play on words of travelling on a boat and getting milled…) seems to be the return from the trip he gives on side a. it is the same track reworked. his musical drama goes faster but deeper under the cortex – but >how lucky a fate< deliverance comes at right time taking the track over to a known housy and deep realm.

we welcome this fantastic producer on trapez with this piece of music which is quite different from most of what we get today. the title track >ghosts< feels like as if klaus nomi and kraftwerk were performing together... something we would have loved to have seen but which never happened. this track is not for the people who love it safe but for the adventurous and the wicked. voices like sirens striking with high pitched tongues being counteracted by basslines with a surface that can only be described as rough as chunks of splintered steel. a brilliant stop and go feeling shows that christian martin is the master on the steering wheel when it comes to controlling the movement.
